Status Update: Summer is here

Just a quick post to say that summer has finally come to the northern parts of Europe. For all of you who live here you know roughly what this post will be about but for the rest of you:

We now have months to be outside before grim winter and darkness returns! ;-)

Hence i will spend more time away from the brushes causing the posts to be more scarce so don´t panic if the blog is left unnatended for a week or more.

I will update as soon as I have time but any hobby time will be focused on painting rather than blogging...

Enjoy the summer everyone!

WIP: Golbin wolf chariot 2

It´s been a bad week for painting, switching jobs and some vacation has put a hinder for any big progress. But thank good there has been a lot of basecoating to do...

I have also started on a orc boy tutorial for how the way that I completed the orc mob, so more to come.

But first: Goblin speed freakz!

Status Update: Modular moving tray

Having finished the orc mob I wanted to create a proper moving tray for the unit. It is a quite expensive option but the modular moving tray´s from GW is something that was missing back in the day.

These being made of resin you can "cutom fit" them to your unit as well as paint them up in your scheme of course...

Check it out!

WIP: Skink runners

After finishing the Saurus warrior whilst making a push on finishing the Orc mob, production went up. So i decided to keep a little side project once the paint on the orcs dry. Both to have something else to do to work on except for full on greenskins, but also to learn how to eb a bit more efficint.

Next on the list are two Skink (which I for some reason keep on reffering to as runners, dunno why).

Check them out below!

My inspirational side project got finished quickly, the first of many. In fact, i apparently had a complete full army of 2000 point laying around! Got effectively finished whilst waiting for the Orc boyz to dry in between different paints.

WIP: Orc mob, making a push!

The orc mob has been moving along extremely slowly, there is not a good explanation for it other than laziness. So i decided a couple of days ago to make a push in completing it.

The good news is that since I did decide to shape up a lot of progress has been made. In this post you can see the progress

WIP: Reptile attack!

Batch painting is clearly not my strong suit...

I have been batteling the Orc regiment for almost two months now in total and the progress is sloooow...

In order to have spark some inspiration i decided to try my best for speed painting a ton of Lizardmen laying around here is the first pictures of the work in progress...

WIP: Space Wolves biker

To have something to take my mind of green skin whilst trying to finish the orc mob, I decided to try out two different ways to paint Space Marine armour.
Since I am a collector of Space Wolves, its their armour to be specific.

One of the miniatures in the my test is a attack biker and I figured I would show off the progress so far...

Tutorial: Highlighting black, quick & effective

Welcome to my first try at writing a tutorial, this specific one on how to achieve a good looking highlight of black (well at least in my opinion ;-) when painting tabletop standard. It is especially effective when speed painting, like in my case an mob of Orcs with worn down black leather clothes...

Status Update: A lot going on

Long time since the last update.... good and bad news.

Bad news: No blog updates
Good news: A lot of painting and modeling has been going on

Nothing finished so far but still set on getting that orc mob finished, also to keep my own skin and blood from turning green in the process i have thrown a couple of other things into the mix.....

Status update: Best thing since sliced bread!

This will probably not come as a surprise for a lot of you veteran painters out there. But it was really an eye opener for me. Hopefully a couple of beginners read this and don't have to wait some twenty three years before finding it out ;-)

Its paint thinner!

Status update: Under Construction!

The theme of the blog has been out of the box, basic, standard blogger setup. I have had a couple of ideas of how i wanted it to look but never executed.

As I have focused more time on painting rather than designing the blog, which is probably a good thing :-)

I never got around to facelift the page. Well instead of planning and dwelling over it, I just got to it last night. Over the coming week it might look unfinished, so: Pardon the Interruption, we´re rebuilding...

Showcase: Space Wolves Long Fang

After the debacle that was the Space Wolves Cyclone terminator (that actually ended up in the bin), I shaped up and started the first of five from a Long Fang space marine pack. Below you can witness the finished result.

WIP: Orc regiment 1st part

The first pictures from the progress of the Orc regiment I assembled a while ago. After having base coated all twenty, then starting out with batches of four. I have got as far as highlighting the black clothes, painting armor and metal and come halway through finishing the orc skin!

WIP: Space Wolves Long Fang

If you read my first space wolves post you know that my work on the Cyclone terminator Wolf guard was all but satisfactory.

In fact i thought the result was so bad i decided to scrap the miniature all together and start on a pack of long fangs instead...

Showcase: Another Orc boy

Having posted the other day about finishing what I started. Here is the first result after that. This orc musician was actually started at the same time as the first orc boy I finished. But i have been dragging my heels to get it done.

Stick around to see more...

Status update: Start finishing!

After having painted for little over a month now, almost ten hours every week I have com to realize that patience and focus does not seem to suit me at all!

So far i have finished three miniatures and started around forty! I firmly believe that without finishing there is no way you can get better with your painting, continue reading to figure out why and see whats currently left to finish and my strategy going forward. Also please give your view on how, if one should even think about it, to approach progressing the hobby....

Showcase: Khorne Berzerkers

After completing the third Khorne Berzerker since taking up painting again i figured there is time for displaying a couple of pictures of finished models as supposed to tons of work in progress.

WIP: Orc boyz, assembly night!

I mentioned in a previous post my rejuvenated love for the greenskins, having finished one orc boy and having two more in the pipeline, I decided that it was time  for some mass painting completing an entire regiment that i knew i had laying around.

Little did i know that only the plastic wrapping was broken and nothing in it was assembled.

I did a quick count and realized that it would add up to a full twenty boyz lining up so i got to it and also found a little surprise laying around....

Status update: Whats up? Whats next? Bases...

So far three miniatures has been completely finished, I am satisfied with the result and the reason being is larger attention to detail and work as hard as ever on being patient. Some have also been cut "from the roster" as my own skills failed me as well as impatience showing its ugly face.

In addition there has been significant improvement on the field of photography and more to come, keep reading to find out more...

Showcase: Finished Orc Boy

The Comebacks first finished Orc, I'm really satisfied with how the skin (especially the face) and the black pants turned out.

Enjoy!

WIP: Space wolves cyclone Terminator

Space solved were the main army I lined up with in Warhammer 40K games back in the day. I had an entire army assembled and primed but the performance anxiety and fear of not doing my models justice of course left more than 80% unpainted.

As i have 6-7 models going at the same time to have variation with the painting I dug out one of the coolest models around: A Wolf guard terminator armed with a Cyclone missile launcher.

The progress so far can be seen below:

WIP: Ork Boy

As i mentioned in my first post i have a weak spot for Orc´s and Goblins, in the goodie bag that was the  u-haul box, one of the favorites is a complete box of multi part Orc boyz regiment. As with the Khorne Berzerkers a couple of these were both assembled and primed.
I finished the skin and clothing highlighting yesterday so here are a couple of pictures from the "Work in progress"

Showcase: 1st & 2nd finished

Whats a blog about painting without pictures? Nothing! So here is my first limping steps towards a ton of completed armies to field in great displays.

First off: 12 Khorne Berserkers i had assemblied in a old ice cream box, they were even primed with black!

Status update: Where to begin?

Well not having painted for a decade and a half poses a question to you: At what level is my skill?
After going through the models I had painted in my teens I realized that my skills were not half as good as the fifteen year old version of me thought :-)

I never watered down paint, never spent time on analyzing the difference between blending and dry brushing or having patience with the miniatures.

Hence my new take is with humility, i will start from scratch and really do whats nessecary to get good... Practice, practice, practice...

Back in business!

After a hiatus for almost fifteen years, I have started  the hobby of panting citadel miniatures again. Whilst cleaning out our cellar storage three weeks ago, I came across an unmarked box. To my exitement it was filled a large number of fantasy and future, painted and unpainted miniatures from Warhammer and Warhammer 40,000.

I actually thought that my parents had thrown all of it away when selling their house a couple of years ago, but  they had left the box for me to pickup and I probably never bothered looking inside it.

Having looked for a hobby for a long time to get my mind off work, this finding could not have come at a better time! A run through of the box and a quick visit to the closest GW store and I'm back in action.

Join me on the adventure to see how far I can go in becoming a great painter as well as enjoying completing the paint job on the myriad of miniatures available out there!
